At Arive, we try to make the construction process as painless as possible by taking care of all of the heavy lifting. Still, despite our best efforts, building a new home can be stressful. From picking out finishes to getting your old home sold, we totally understand if the process makes you want to tear your hair out. Here are some tips to stay sane.
Check Your Expectations
Talk to your agent about a realistic building timeline. You should have a general idea of a move-in date, but remember that things out of the builder’s control can push that date back. While you should expect excellence from your builder, make sure you’re being realistic.
It’s a common complaint for buyers to feel overwhelmed during the design process. We have an interior designer on-hand to make things easier, but you might still get stressed when choosing tile, paint and flooring. That’s where defining your priorities can really help: Create a list of your top 5 to 10 design must-haves and you won’t feel so overwhelmed.
Talk it Out
Communication is key when you’re building a new home. Talking with your builder, discussing things with your spouse and communicating with your designer will all help reduce your stress level. When you realize how much help and support you have on board, you’re bound to relax.
While building can be stressful, we promise that you won’t want to miss a moment. Because you’re not only building a new home, but a foundation for your family. Take pictures, take a deep breath and enjoy the ride.
