Top 3 Building Trends in Utah

While we definitely consider each home one-of-a-kind, it’s hard to not notice some of the definite building trends going on in Utah right now. Thanks to Utahn’s specific lifestyles (based around function and family), it’s clear to us what our homeowners’ priorities are. Check out the top three building trends right now:

1. Open Concept

Families simply don’t live the same type of lifestyle that they did 20 (or even 10) years ago. Today, it’s all about multipurpose rooms and keeping the family together. So it makes sense that most homeowners are looking for open concept floor plans to help facilitate flow and togetherness in their abodes. Open concepts also create a more airy, spacious feel, so we’re all for them!

2. Focal Points

Really want to make a splash with your home design? One main focal point in a room is the way to do it. In our experience, it’s fireplaces, staircases and kitchens that make the most impact in a home, so it’s a good ideal to splurge on at least one focal point to really make your house stand out.

3. Mismatched Tile

Gone are the days when tile had to match throughout the home: While tile might seem decorative, it’s pretty functional for the average family. Durable and easy to clean, tile is a no-brainer and with so many patterns, finishes and colors, you don’t have to choose just one. Coordinating (not matching!) tile is a must have in your modern home, so go for a few different finishes.

We’re excited to see what building trends will follow 2014 through to 2015 – and what new trends we’ll see in the new year!
