5 Super Simple Fall Decor Ideas

Is it just us, or does the changing of the seasons make you antsy for fall decor too? We’re ready to banish spring showers and summer flowers for something a little more autumnal. If you’re getting the decor bug too, here are some of our favorite simple ways to add a little fall style to your home.

We love the simplicity of these Pottery Barn lanterns — you can find replicas just about anywhere. Ditch the candles and replace them with gourds for fall flair.

Why did we think of that? Stenciling letters on small pumpkins is completely genius and super fast (here).

We love decor that is easy and cheap, so what’s better than a vase filled with layered dried beans? (here) Add a candle and you’re good to go.

Maybe it’s just the builder in us, but drilled-hole pumpkins? We’ll do anything to use power tools. (here)

Adding some depth can make even the most standard decor look out of the ordinary. Stack pumpkins on cake stands and candle holders to make a statement. (here)

Hopefully that’s enough to get your creative juices going. Just seeing decor ideas has us craving cider and pumpkin pie. Try some of these to decorate for fall and you might be experiencing the same thing.

5 Reasons We Love Santaquin

Santaquin-dwellers unite! One of our newest neighborhoods is Sunset Trails, located in beautiful Santaquin UT.  A little off the beaten path, but still close to everything you need, why did we choose Santaquin as the site for our newest community? Find out five reasons we love this little town.

1. Small Town Feel

We can’t help but fall in love with the small town feel that Santaquin offers. While the city boasts almost 10,000 residents, you’d never know it by driving down sleepy Main Street or visiting one of the city’s clean, quiet parks.

2. The Rodeo

Santaquin’s annual Orchard Days brings visitors from far and wide, especially when it comes to the yearly rodeo. Voted as one of the best in the state, we have to admit that Santaquin knows how to put on a rodeo… and a summer party!

3. Scenery

Where other towns offer partial views, the beauty of Santaquin is the 360-degree views of the mountains. Nestled just by Mt. Nebo, you can’t help but feel surrounded by nature, even in the newer developments. Orchards, parks and mountains – check!

4. Community

Community programs, events and celebrations make this town one to watch, especially for young families. In fact, the community made headlines this year for banding together and helping to rebuild a veteran’s damaged roof. Who wouldn’t love that kind of community spirit?

5. The Temple

One of the newer features of Santaquin’s best view lots (and those in Sunset Trails)? The new Payson Temple. While technically in Payson, we love that you can see the temple from almost anywhere in Santaquin.

Curious about Santaquin? Come visit our model home, located in our new neighborhood and see for yourself why we love this little big town.

How to: Stage Your Home for Buyers on the Cheap

One of the “necessary evils” of building a brand-new home is the fact that you’re going to have to sell your old one. And selling a home definitely is no walk in the park. From dealing with unplanned home tours to negotiating with buyers, it can be stressful. But taking the time to properly stage your home doesn’t only make it more attractive, it can also reduce some of the stress that comes along with selling. Here are a few quick tips for staging without blowing your seller’s budget.

1. Get Rid of Personal Stuff

Of course you love your family pictures and your child’s painting on the fridge, but leaving personal items out makes it hard for sellers to imagine themselves in your home. Pack it away – it’ll give you a head start for moving and keep your precious stuff safe during the sales process.

2. Clear Clutter

No buyer wants to see mounds of papers left on the counter. Instead, sleek and clean surfaces prevail, so dump all of your clutter into drawers so it’s out of sight, out of mind. Don’t forget the same treatment in the bathrooms! Stash toothbrushes and bath toys in cabinets so buyers see the best of your home, not your clutter.

3. Light a Candle

When in doubt, a sweet-smelling candle can help your home seem more, well, homey! A candle can mask any cooking or pet odors and creates  a pleasant, cozy atmosphere. For extra points, grab a candle that smells like baked goods – it’ll be the best $10 you’ve ever spent.

Staging your home doesn’t have to cost big bucks. Just give the space a once-over, pretending you’re a potential buyer. Some clean-up and a few updates might be all it takes for a buyer to fall in love with your home.
